Annual Friends of Connecticut Libraries Award Submission Window Open

Did your Friends group try something new in the past few years?  Did they realize a major goal? Do you know of people who made things happen or provided extraordinary support to your Friends organization? The Friends of Connecticut Libraries is pleased to invite all of our Friends Groups to participate in our 2024 awards. This is an opportunity to recognize talented people in your Friends organization or the entire group and nominate them for one of the Friends of Connecticut Libraries Awards.

The awards will be presented at our annual meeting on June 15, 2024 at the Avon Public Library.  The winning Friends will receive this recognition in the company of people who understand and personify dedicated library service.

Time to renew your FOCL membership!

Dear Friends of Libraries,

FOCL's mission is to facilitate communication, collaboration and advocacy among Friends groups and libraries throughout the state. Friends of Connecticut Libraries (FOCL) is here to help you. We encourage you to join/renew your membership in FOCL, along with 100 other local Friends groups, individual library friends, library directors and organizations to support this effort.

Members can take advantage of FOCL’s centralized resources for Friends groups through:

  • The FOCL website - www.foclib.org includes an extensive resource section about Friends topics, a listing of member groups, book sale information and a recently revised Friends Handbook which is a practical guide to establishing and maintaining your local Friends group.
  • An active FOCL Facebook community.
  • FOCL-Point -  our newsletter which contains important news and ideas for Friends throughout the state.
  • Events on topics of interest are in the planning stages for the Fall.  More information to follow.  Recognition of Award winners for outstanding individuals, groups and projects at FOCL’s Annual Meeting is planned for Spring 2024.
  • Grants and consultations to Friends groups in need of organizational support.

We encourage you to go online to fill out your membership information and pay your dues at www.foclib.org/join-us . (If you need help logging in or have both a group and an individual membership, email friendsctlibraries@gmail.com.) If you prefer, you can go online and print/mail your membership form with payment to FOCL by October 15. For groups, this will ensure earlier inclusion of group information in our online directory and calendar.

Thank you for all you do for libraries in Connecticut and for supporting FOCL’s work! Please let us know if there are any other ways we can serve your group and library.

Sincerely,

Linda Grayson
