Association Libraries: The Public-Private Partnership

Wednesday, September 25, 2024 @ 7:00pm

Join us for a discussion of the association library-town relationship. Topics to include the pros and cons of being an association, the many forms of association libraries in CT, the governing board, bylaws, Town-Library Agreements and MOUs, and FOIA implications. Please come with questions and ready to share!

Brenda McKinley, our presenter, has been a CT librarian for over 30 years and for most of those years has worked at an association library.  She has been a Library Director for over 10 years, at the Ridgefield Library since 2017 and previously at Cyrenius H. Booth Library in Newtown.

Standing Strong - The Three-Legged Stool Approach for Libraries
Wednesday, October 30, 2024 @ 7:00pm

The Library serves as the foundation of our community’s knowledge, supported by the Library Trustees, Directors and Friends Groups.  Cooperation among these groups is essential for the Library to function optimally and deliver its full array of services to the public.  Should discord arise, or if any of these groups falters, the Library’s ability to serve effectively is compromised.  Just as a stool cannot stand without all of its legs, the Library cannot thrive without the harmonious support of its custodians.  This webinar provides an opportunity for the three groups to discuss their respective duties, legal aspects, and foster open communication.

Larry Rifkin, our moderator, is well known in Connecticut broadcasting. His career spans five decades and includes varied roles including television programming executive, radio personality, now podcaster…and songwriter!

Watch for email registration via CSL-Conntech listserv or register for these webinars on the ACLB website.
