New 1023-EZ Form Makes Applying to be Tax-Exempt Easier

Record keeping Reminder: As a new year begins, it is time to review what the I.R.S. record keeping requirements. Our friends at the Pro Bono Partnership have provided the following guidance:

• Maintain Form 990’s permanently.
  
• Must maintain all fundraising solicitation information for three (3) years.
  
• Must maintain acknowledgements to donors for their contributions for seven (7) years.
  
• Maintain reports to grantors/funders for seven (7) years.
  

FOCL reviewed the State of Connecticut record keeping requirements and they are the same as the Federal.
